Logistop organized the Innovation Lab on Digital Twins: platforms for data and model integration.
Within the framework of the Digitalization and automation of processes for efficient and interconnected logistics working group, Logistop organized the Innovation Lab – Digital Twins: platforms for the integration of data and models. An event that brought together industry experts to discuss two technologies: digital twins and data spaces, key tools in the way logistics processes are managed.
During the session, experts such as David Ciprés, Head of Digital Twin line applied to industrial and logistics processes at ITA – Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón, Javier Olmos, Head of Business Programs; platforms, clusters and associations; large calls in CARTIF, both Head of Innovation of the working group Digitalization and automation of processes for an efficient and interconnected logistics of Logistop, Estíbaliz Loyo, Head of Intelligent Systems for Mobility and Logistics at Vicomtech, y José Luis López, Digital Transformation and Industrial Processes in ITA – Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón, shared their knowledge and experiences on the impact of these technologies in the industry.
Javier Olmos provided a theoretical overview of the digital twin work cycle, highlighting the importance of following a rigorous process that includes defining objectives, data collection and integration, modeling, simulation and shared access. He exemplified these steps with real cases of digital twins in logistics and construction.
For her part, Estíbaliz Loyo highlighted the work done in Vitoria and the creation of a data space in Alava, with a use case in the Júndiz intermodal terminal. This project aims to optimize logistics and the management of logistics nodes by exchanging data in real time.
Finally, José Luis López presented DECARBOMILE, a European project that seeks to decarbonize last mile logistics through multimodal and sustainable solutions, supported by automated urban models for logistics planning.
The discussion concluded with an analysis of the challenges facing the sector. The need to foster collaboration between companies around data sharing, the monetization of this sharing and the creation of business models that benefit all players were some of the challenges highlighted.
Future sessions of the working group will continue to explore how digital twins can be applied in the sector, always seeking to maximize their value and address the challenges of companies and the industry.
